It is important to note that assignments are nearly always of limited time and scope. They are contract based, requiring the employee to go overseas for a specific purpose and duration of time, often at short notice. This requires not only a certain taste for adventure, but also a flexible personal time schedule that will allow you to accept foreign assignments on short notice.

The types of assignments run the gamut of the variety of work found in many international commercial enterprises — from business negotiations, sales, and marketing, to the employee interviews, recruitment, and background investigations necessary to set up a branch office in a foreign location.
